Joggling the Music Fest Road Race for St. Jude
It's the CMA Music Festival in Nashville this weekend, and early in the morning fans were already lining up for the concerts along the street by the convention center. We saw them as we arrived downtown to run in the Music Fest Road Race 5k to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Along with Jason (The Nashville Joggler) and Kristen (Playing By Air performer and Hooping for Hope trainer), I ran the 3.1 miles in downtown Nashville while juggling three balls. It's the first time I've joggled since Komen's Race for the Cure in the Fall with Team Catch It Early, and I was happy to finish in just under 36 minutes with only one drop. Running with a great group people supporting childhood cancer research and care definitely makes it easy to wake up early on a Saturday!
To learn more about St. Jude and the amazing research and care they provide for children with cancer in Tennessee, and around the world, visit www.stjude.org.
And don't miss out on an opportunity to win the Middle Tennessee dream home through the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway! The 2010 deadline to by tickets is June 27, and more information is available at www.stjudedreamhome.org.
Have a great rest of the weekend, and check back this week for more updates about the show in July and our local cancer support organizations!

Featured Partner: Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center
Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) offers many programs and partnerships for cancer treatment, prevention, and support. The amazing team at VICC is a frequent collaborator with Playing By Air, working together on projects such as the CatchItEarly.org initiative using juggling and variety arts for cancer prevention and awareness. Playing By Air also has supported innovative projects led by the cancer center, such as Cancer Queens and Cancer Mythbusters, and providing video production for the Songs from the Heart concert and workshops (an incredibly inspiring event!)
This Sunday is National Cancer Survivors Day, and we will be attending and performing at the 2010 Celebration of Cancer Survivorship at Vanderbilt University.
There are many more programs that VICC offers the community, and we will continue to highlight them on this blog, along with the programs of other local organizations in Middle Tennessee. For now, be sure to check out the new video created by VICC to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day and share it with your family and friends:
Playing By Air Announces July Show in Nashville, TN
Dear Playing By Air Friends,
Over the last several years I have gotten to know amazing and inspiring people at many of the incredible organizations who are there for anyone in the community touched by cancer. I am honored to have this opportunity to celebrate these individuals and groups, and I hope that more people will learn about them and get involved supporting their efforts.
We will be featuring these organizations each week as we lead up to our performances in Nashville on July 17 and 18, and be sure to check back frequently for updates! Please pass on this site to anyone who might be interested in partnering or supporting our efforts, and we'll see you at the show!
Sincerely,
Jacob
Director, Playing By Air
